Symptoms of pulmonary embolism are the internal problems experienced by someone who has pulmonary embolism, or perhaps before it gets quite worse. The symptoms of the disease depend on the extent of damage to the lungs, the portion of the lungs involved, and the size of the blood clot. If you experience any of these symptoms, call your doctor immediately. Pulmonary embolism is usually responded to with emergency treatment since if left untreated, it might result in death. Some of the common symptoms of pulmonary embolism include the following.
- Shortness of breath
- Clammy skin
- irregular and/or rapid heartbeat
- Chest pain
- Fainting or a light-headed feeling
- Coughing, often containing blood.
- Back pain
- Weak pulse
- Bluish coloration of the lips and nails
