6 Facts of Pulmonary Embolism(PE)

Warning Signs

Pulmonary embolism usually occurs so suddenly that one may not have time to notice any changes in their body physiology. However, there are certain signs to look out for. These are pointers to an imminent attack by a blood clot, especially by blood clots formed in the deep veins of the legs.

  • Swelling of either or both legs or arms.
  • Reddened patch of discolored skin around the affected leg or arm.
  • Tenderness or painful sensations in the legs while you stand or walk.
  • Abnormally swollen leg or arm veins, especially if it feels warmer to the touch than usual. [4]
