8 Main Causes of Low Blood Pressure (Hypotension)

Inflammation

The swelling or inflammation of the body organs may cause hypotension. For example, in patients suffering from pancreatitis, the fluids in the arteries move into the inflamed tissues, reducing the total blood volume and causing hypotension. Damage to the pancreas also permits toxins into the bloodstream, which may cause low blood pressure.

Bleeding

Bleeding is the fastest way to decrease blood pressure and volume, leading to hypotension. Slow to rapid bleeding may result from physical and internal injuries, including surgical complications, wounds, ulcers, tumors. The deeper the injury, the faster the body bleeds, which means that persons suffering from wounds like puncture, avulsion, and amputation may run into shock (cardiac arrest) in no time or end up dead.
