Persistent Cough
A cough is a normal reflex reaction to clear your throat or to send foreign objects out your windpipe. While everyone coughs from time to time, persistent coughing might be indicative of an underlying condition. The causes are usually benign but sometimes they may be chronic or life-threatening.
Heart failure can cause persistent coughing. Persistent coughing due to heart failure is often characterized by the presence of pink, foamy mucus in the phlegm.
Protruding Neck Veins
Heart failures can also cause the veins of the neck to become more prominent and protrude. Bulging neck veins are common in cases of congestive heart failure and other circulatory diseases.
