Surgery

If other methods of treatment fail to work or are not efficient, then the doctor would have to perform a surgery. The purpose of the surgery is usually to destroy the heart tissue that is causing the AFip and restore your heart to a normal rhythm. The different types of surgery that can be done include:
Maze Procedure
A maze procedure surgery is a case of last resort in treating AFib. The procedure involves the doctor making an incision in your atria to restrict the abnormal electrical signals to a certain level. This way, signals will not be able to reach the atria, therefore, preventing fibrillation. This procedure is done most times if there is another heart condition alongside AFip.
