Treatment

Normal asthma drugs such as bronchodilators can have little effectiveness in treating cardiac asthma. The best way to treat cardiac asthma involves addressing the underlying heart conditions and fluid accumulation in the lungs.
These treatments method include;
Drugs
Drugs normally used to treat an emergency case of cardiac asthma are
- Morphine
- Nitroglycerin
- Furosemide or diuretics to eradicate fluid
Once the symptoms are stable, patients can be given ACE inhibitors or beta-blockers, or both to prevent another event. ACE inhibitors are used to widen blood vessels and empty the heart, while beta-blockers slow the heart rate and reduce blood pressure.
Oxygen and ventilation
When a patient’s body is not receiving enough oxygen, doctors prescribe oxygen or a noninvasive ventilator.
In complicated cases, a breathing tube is used to help with inhalation. It is important to know that these treatments are not compulsory if the patient can breathe well enough to get sufficient oxygen.
