Determinants of prognosis
The prognosis for CHF is affected by a variety of factors, your doctor will be in the best position to describe you exact condition.
Some of the key elements generally determining the CHF outlook are as follows:
- Your current age
- what causes your CHF
- If you take alcohol
- gender
- phase of the diagnosis
- the ejection fraction of your heart
- how often you’ve been admitted to the hospital for CHF symptoms [1]
- if you have any additional medical conditions
- your level of therapeutic response
- how diligently you adhere to your treatment strategy
An older study published in 2008 [2] found that the presence of hypertension, diabetes, social and economic variables, and other risk factors increased the likelihood of CHF among African Americans compared to white and Hispanic people.
