Blood Pressure Medications

High blood pressure increases your risk of experiencing angina symptoms often. If you have high blood pressure or other chronic diseases such as diabetes, kidney disease, or heart failure, your physician may give you drugs to reduce your blood pressure. Doctors usually recommend either of two types [11] of drugs: angiotensin II receptor blockers (ARBs) or angiotensin-converting enzymes (ACEs).
Statins
Statins are a group of drugs used to lower the level of low-density lipoproteins (LDL) [12] or bad cholesterol in the blood. Cholesterol buildup in the artery is a common reason the arteries fail to carry enough blood to the heart.
These medications work by blocking the production of this type of cholesterol in the liver. The drugs can also help your body reabsorb cholesterol that has clung to the walls of your arteries. This reduces blockage and increases the amount of blood that flows to your heart.
Ranolazine
Ranolazine [13] is a type of drug used to treat chest pain related to the heart. It may be used alone in angina treatment or combined with other angina drugs like beta-blockers and calcium channel blockers. It is sold under the brand name Ranexa.
