Heart Disease & Heart Problems: Symptoms And Signs to Know

Symptoms of Heart Arrhythmia

Arrhythmia, also called irregular heart rhythm, is not as much heart disease as it is a disorder. Arrhythmia is not always a sign of danger, although it may occur as a symptom of more serious heart conditions.

Irregular heart rhythm is caused by problems with how the heart muscles function. This usually happens when the electrical impulses that regulate normal heartbeat malfunction [2]. When you have arrhythmias, you may experience symptoms such as:

  • Palpitation that can feel like your heart is beating rather rapidly, fluttering, or has skipped a beat
  • Shortness of breath
  • Lightheadedness
  • Chest discomfort
  • Fatigue
