Signs of Heart Failure

Heart failure [5] is a common feature of many chronic heart conditions. It does not mean the heart has stopped working, only that it is no longer able to pump enough blood to meet the body’s needs. It can result in symptoms such as the following:
- Cough producing white or pink phlegm
- Shortness of breath even when at rest
- Fatigue and lethargy
- Swelling of the abdomen and ankles
- Rapid weight gain due to water retention
- Frequent urination at night
- Chest pain
- Fast and irregular heartbeats
