Heart Disease & Heart Problems: Symptoms And Signs to Know

Signs of Heart Attack

A heart attack [6] is a sudden and severe malfunction of the heart. While heart attacks may lead to death, not all do. But they can cause significant damage to the heart if not attended to on time. You can tell when a heart attack is coming sometimes. The symptoms usually last around 30 minutes or more and are unresponsive to medication.

If you experience the following symptoms, it may be a sign you are about to have a heart attack.

  • Sudden, extreme weakness and shortness of breath
  • Pain radiating through the left arm, back, neck (this can feel like a choking sensation in the throat), and jaw
  • Nausea, vomiting, and lightheadedness
  • Fast, irregular heartbeats
  • Chest pain or discomfort
