Cardiomyopathy Symptoms

Disorders that affect the heart muscles (myocardia) are generally called cardiomyopathy [7]. They do not always interfere with one’s quality of life, but sometimes they are severe enough to. Symptoms that often occur include:
- Swelling of the legs and ankles
- Fatigue and dizziness
- Shortness of breath especially during physical activity
- Heart murmurs
- Rapid and irregular heart rhythm
- Chest pain or tightness that worsens following meals, exercise, or while resting
Symptoms of Pericarditis
The pericardium is the membrane that surrounds the heart. Due to certain infections in the body, this membrane may become inflamed [8]. This can cause you to experience the following symptoms:
- Sharp pain that often starts at the center of the chest and may radiate to the neck, back, and arms
- Fast heartbeats
- Dry cough
- Difficulty breathing when you lie down
- Low-grade fever
