8 Symptoms of Hernia

Swelling or Lump in the Abdominal Region

One of the most obvious features of any hernia or abdominal hernia is the presence of a swelling or a lump in area or region of occurrence, mostly in the area above the navel, inside the navel, and in the groin. This swelling is due to the projection of the contents of the belly, usually the intestine forming a hernial sac (when the contents manage to overtake the belly muscle) [2]

Generally, the contents of the hernia sac can move in and out freely, without causing any serious symptoms or causing just minor discomfort. This can manifest as the appearance of small lumps that are palpable when the person is standing but that disappears when lying down.
