8 Symptoms of Hernia

Nausea and Vomiting

Generally, most hernias are asymptomatic, only generating slight pain or discomfort in the abdominal area. However, if the hernia increases in size, the intestine may exit the abdominal wall. As a consequence, there may be an obstruction or strangulation of the intestine, which generates symptoms such as vomiting and nausea, and in these cases, it is necessary to have surgery to correct it. [5]

Constipation

In cases where the obstruction of the intestine exists due to the strangulation of the hernia, digestion may be occluded and slowed down, and this may often present itself as constipation. Just like in the case mentioned above, extreme symptoms of hernia like these usually call for remedy with the use of surgery. [6]

Diarrhea

Though this symptom may be rare and not occur often, it nonetheless appears in some cases of hernias. Diarrhea can be associated with vomiting, nausea, and constipation and is often as a result of bowel obstruction. [7]
