If you are sexually active, it is best to take a break from any sexual activity, whether oral, anal, or vaginal sex when there is a herpes outbreak or if your partner shows signs of herpes.
Remember that even in areas of skin without active lesions, the herpes virus can still be shed. Because of this, using a condom to prevent exposure to the virus is not always sufficient.
Nonetheless, some drugs can be beneficial. To lessen or completely eliminate your risk for outbreaks and the spread of the disease to others, discuss with your doctor the anti-herpes medications you can take daily.
