Beans and Legumes

Beans, peas, and lentils are rich in proteins and fiber, which are both beneficial to the body. They also contain a group of indigestible carbohydrates called oligosaccharides. These carbohydrates are difficult to break down. When you consume beans and legumes, the bacteria and enzymes in your gut naturally try to break them down. This creates excess gas and causes bloating. [5]
If you have IBS, you should limit these foods in your diet. If you must eat them, you may try soaking them overnight before cooking so your body can digest them with more ease. Thoroughly rinse canned beans before cooking them.
