Stay away from gluten or foods that contain gluten, such as wheat, barley, rye, spelt, malt, or triticale. You can also avoid drinking beer or ale. You can eat grains like rice, oats, and corn or starches like potatoes should be fine. However, you should avoid dairy foods or cow’s milk. Gluten may be present in unexpected meals, like salad dressing, spices, or vitamins.

Your healthcare provider will recommend steroids to treat inflammation if your intestines have been severely damaged. Calcium, vitamin D, and other vitamin supplements can also help treat inflammation.
