Urethral Stricture

A urethral stricture occurs when there’s damage like a scar or swelling from an injury within the urethra tube, making it difficult to urinate comfortably. The urethra is a fragile tube in men and women. It collects urine from the bladder. It is longer in men than in women. Men have an extended length, so they are more likely to develop a posterior structure in the first 1-2 inches of the tube, or an anterior structure in the distal 9-10 inches. Strictures in the urethra are commonly caused by trauma, damage from surgery, persistent swelling, and urethra.
