Osgood-Schlatter Disease: Causes, Symptoms& Treatment

Ways to Prevent Osgood-Schlatter Disease

Basically, it is quite impossible to prevent OSD. However, there are certain ways to lower the chances of developing the health issue. Some of which include:

  • Only engage in sporting activities that do not require you to put much stress on your knees, which includes swimming.
  • Ensure you temporarily stop participating in any activity upon noticing pain in your knee.
  • Wear shoes that support your sporting activity and have enough shock absorbers.
  • Ensure you properly stretch the muscles around the upper region of your leg in order to relieve pressure and boost flexibility.

Once you notice that your child is experiencing pain in the knee after engaging in a sport, ensure that you contact your doctor immediately. With an immediate examination, the doctor is able to ascertain the major cause of the pain and provide solutions to it.
