What You Should Know About Synovitis

What are the Treatments for Toxic Synovitis?

Treatments for synovitis usually involve reducing and controlling its symptoms. The inflammation that occurs due to the viral infection may go away on its own. Your doctor may prescribe drugs, or other treatments based on the severity of your synovitis.

Drugs

You can take over-the-counter (OTC) drugs like ibuprofen [3] and naproxen to help reduce inflammation temporarily. These drugs are known to offer pain relief for a short period. In severe cases, your doctor may prescribe a more potent reliever if OTC drugs don’t work.

Your doctor may also recommend injecting corticosteroids [4] into the joint to help reduce the damage caused by synovitis. Physical therapy for aynovitis usually involves the R.I.C.E treatment on the inflamed joint: rest, ice, compression, and elevation.
