Acute Laryngitis
This is a temporary form of the condition and can be easily treated. Some common causes of acute laryngitis include:
- Viral infection
- Vocal strain that occurs from overusing of voice via yelling
- Bacterial infection
Chronic Laryngitis
This is a more serious condition and may be a signal of an underlying condition. Causes of chronic laryngitis include:
- Excessive alcohol drinking
- Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) [2]
- Irritants or Allergens
- Cigarette smoking
- Vocal cord paralysis
