What Is Tinnitus?
Tinnitus comes in many forms. Although most people experience it as a ringing in the ear, others report buzzing, clicking, humming, or whistling sounds. It may affect one or both ears and be loud or soft. The experience is not the same for everyone.
According to the National Institute for Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, about 10 percent of Americans  experience tinnitus symptoms within a year. It most commonly affects adults above 55 . Tinnitus can be chronic. The outlook for people with chronic tinnitus is not the same. While it gets worse in some people, the noise never changes in others.
