Overview

Post nasal drip is quite common, and it affects everyone at one point or the other in their lives. The glands in the throat and nose produce mucus continuously to ensure that the nasal membranes are moistened, foreign materials are filtered out and to fight any infection. Most times, you may even swallow the mucus unconsciously. Post nasal drip is when the body begins to produce mucus to the extent that you feel it’s accumulation at the back of your throat. You may also feel it drip through your nose, to your throat. Post nasal drip can be caused by certain allergies, medications, common cold, asthma etc. Some common symptoms of post nasal drip include:

  • Terrible cough which worsens at night.
  • A scratchy, dry and sore throat.
  • Excess mucus in the stomach causes nausea.
