Muscle/Joint Pain & Lack of Coordination

People with a meningitis infection may feel muscle and joint pain. Sometimes these symptoms remain for months even after the infection has gone.
The pain may be more pronounced in the backs and lower thighs when infected individuals flex their knees. This doesn’t happen in everyone who has meningitis though. New research [11] shows that this symptom doesn’t appear in many people who have meningitis.
Meningitis can affect the inner ear and cause problems with maintaining balance. People with meningitis may consistently feel dizzy and carry out activities with a lot of clumsiness. These symptoms do not disappear immediately after the infection is treated and may remain for a while.
