Practice Your New Routine Early
Uncertainty only makes anxiety worse, and a new job often breeds a lot of upcoming changes, such as:
- Commuting to a new place
- Working more hours each week
- Starting work at a different time
- Handling new responsibilities
Preparing for change ahead of time can help, for example:
- Worried about traffic and travel times? Research different routes or look into walking or taking public transportation to work.
- Nervous about how your pet would cope with your sudden absence? Gradually increase the time you spend away from home to help them adjust.
- Wondering where you will take lunch breaks? Explore the area around your work so you can feel it. Find a more comfortable place in the new surrounding.
- Not a natural early riser? Gradually shift your sleep schedule so you don’t feel tired on your first day
