What Does It Mean To Be Lonely?

Loneliness is a condition that occurs when you are emotionally detached from people even when you are around them. When you are lonely, you want to connect with someone, but there is no one available for you. Loneliness affects one negatively.

Loneliness can happen to people who have a large group of friends or even to people who are in a relationship. In conditions like this, you and your friends are physically available for each other but emotionally you are not. You are lost and it feels like no one seems to care.

Prolonged loneliness makes one pick up bad habits. Bad habits like alcohol drinking and use of drugs [2] are common among lonely people. These habits help them suppress this feeling of loneliness.
