Sore throat

Gargling with salt water for about 15 to 30 seconds, and spitting it out can help treat sore throat. You can repeat this process more than once a day. Saltwater rinses will help improve the sore throat [5] and wash out bacteria.
Canker sores
You can use saltwater rinses to treat your canker sores. Although they can make your sores sting, they are still effective at treating them. All you have to do is put a teaspoon of salt in a glass of warm water and rinse with warm saltwater.
Allergies
Saltwater rinses are not potent enough to permanently cure an allergy, but they can help improve some of its symptoms. You can gargle with salt water if your throat is swollen.
