How to Access Progression and How to Treat MS

In most cases, doctors use the Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) to evaluate the progression of multiple sclerosis. The EDSS is a scale that ranges from 0 (normal neurological exam without a problem in any functional system) to 10 (death from MS). According to research, people with Late-onset multiple sclerosis got to 6.0 on the EDSS faster than people with Adult-onset multiple sclerosis. The research observed people older than 40 and analyze people with Late-onset multiple sclerosis.
People who have multiple sclerosis as young adults are more prone to RRMS. Studies show that over 85 percent of people with MS have RRMS.
Your healthcare provider may recommend various treatment options to help treat the symptoms of multiple sclerosis. Rehabilitation is often used to boost your mobility, memory, and strength. Types of rehabilitation include:
- physical rehab
- cognitive rehab
- occupational rehab
Your doctor may also prescribe drugs known as disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) to treat multiple sclerosis.
