Treatment Options

There are different available treatment options for each type of visual disturbance. The required treatment for your condition will depend on your symptoms, the severity of your disease, and your overall physical health.
Some common treatments include:
Eye patch
Covering one eye with an eye patch may help reduce dizziness and nausea, especially if you have double vision.
Systemic steroid
Your doctor may prescribe a systemic steroid injection. This helps speed up the recovery from a disturbance and delays the development of a second occurrence.
Your doctor will typically administer a course of these steroids over a 1-5 day period. And will give intravenous steroids over a 3-day period. Risks and side effects include increased heart rate, stomach irritation, insomnia, and mood changes.
Other medications
Some medications may be prescribed for certain side effects of vision disturbance, such as:
- Clonazepam (Klonopin) [6]
- Antihistamine [7]
- Clemastine fumarate
