Spontaneous Gene Mutations

In a few cases, Spontaneous gene mutation can lead to muscular dystrophy. This occurs when the gene is altered for no reason, disrupting the way the cells of the body function. Spontaneous gene alteration [5] can lead to muscular dystrophy in people who don’t have a family history of the disease.
Children with no family history can have muscular dystrophy if the condition is recessive. The mutated gene could have been in both sides of the family for many generations but did not affect anybody until a child inherited a copy of the mutated gene from both parents.
