5 Symptoms of Panic Attack

Irregular heartbeat & Shortness of breath

Another symptom of panic attacks is an irregular heartbeat [4]. This means that the heart may be beating at a very rapid rate, which is way beyond what is normal. The heart’s system is very complex as the pumping of blood is controlled by the nodes, valves and chambers . Any disruptions to this vital system can change the pattern of your heartbeat. A normal heartbeat for an adult is about 60 to 100times per minute [5]. Therefore, the heartbeat becomes abnormal once it’s over a 100times per minute.

Shortness of breath which can also be called dyspnea is a very uncomfortable health condition that makes it very hard for air to fully reach into your lungs. In some cases, shortness of breath may occur for a few minutes and in other cases, it may go on for a longer period of time. Shortness of breath is characterized with trouble breathing, blue lips, persistent tightness in the chest and mental confusion. This is one of the symptoms of panic attack.
