Radiculopathy – An Overview

Difference between Radiculopathy and Spondylolysis

A weakening called spondylolysis [3] occurs where the bones that make up your spine, or vertebrae, join together. Small stress fractures resulting from this may cause pain, typically in the lower back. Teens going through growth spurts are typically affected.

Radiculopathy can result from misaligning the bones in your spine, but pain and other symptoms are actually caused by irritation or compression of your nerve roots, not by a broken bone.

Radiculopathy can happen to anyone, but it is more common in people above the age of 50. The illness itself is rare. Although back pain, neck pain, lower back pain are common, they are rarely caused by radiculopathy.
