The Symptoms of Pertussis(Whooping Cough)

Dehydration

Some individuals may experience a severe cough that stops them from taking enough water. When that occurs, it leads to dehydration in such people. Dehydration and weight loss occur more in infants because pertussis may lead to feeding difficulties.

Generally, dehydration occurs when more water and fluid leave the body more than they get into it. Common symptoms of dehydration include dry mouth, dizziness, headache, weakness in muscles, and lethargy.

Conclusion

Most of the symptoms of pertussis occur simultaneously. Before starting treatment, it’s important to consult the doctor. According to the CDC [5], vaccination is advised for infants at 2 months, 4 months, and 6 months.
