Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) – Symptoms and Causes

Symptoms of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)

There are a lot of symptoms that can be attributed to the occurrence of BPH, many of which are not exactly peculiar to it and could be a sign of another medical condition that can affect the male reproductive system. However, these symptoms if detected early can reduce the damage of the prostate and prevent the overall breakdown of the male reproductive system.

Here are common symptoms [4] that may characterize the occurrence of BPH:

Sudden Frequency in Urination or Inability to Empty the Bladder

The average number of times a man should urinate daily is 6-8 times. In some exceptions, like when you drink too much water or alcohol, it can increase the number of times you urinate. However, when a man suddenly notices that the frequency of his urination is abrupt and too frequent it may be a sign of Benign Prostatic hyperplasia.

As the prostate enlarges, it presses towards the urethra, making the bladder thicker. Over time, the bladder loses its ability to empty itself and retains urine in it, thereby increasing the number of times a person feels the need to urinate.
