Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) and Blood in the Urine

Urinary tract infections are any infections that affect any part of your urinary system, e.g the bladder, the urethra, or the kidneys. Although this is more common in women, men can also have UTIs and it can be a symptom of benign prostatic hyperplasia.
Finding blood in your urine can be a very dangerous symptom and can be a symptom of prostate cancer. However, it is also a major symptom of BPH. A man who has BPH will likely see blood particles as he passes out urine. As the bladder tries to compensate for the difficulty in passing out urine, it may tear causing damage that may lead to bleeding.
