Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) – Symptoms and Causes

Difficulty Starting Urination and Weak Urine Stream

People who have BPH may find it difficult to start urinating simply because there is a lot of pressure on the bladder as it gradually struggles to manage and control urine. When the prostate enlarges, it blocks the flow of urine, causing the bladder to retain a lot of urine, which weakens it.

Having a weak urine stream [5] can be a big problem and it is one of the major symptoms of BPH. It is caused by the weakening of the bladder due to the increased pressure of the urethra on it. As the prostate enlarges, this will eventually occur and even lead to an overall inability to urinate, if it is not treated early.
