9 Stretches to Alleviate Sciatica

Standing Hamstring Stretch

This exercise helps the individual to ease pain and tightness in the hamstring due to sciatica. Here are the steps to follow:

  1. The person needs to fix his or her right foot on an elevated body or below the hip. Examples of this body can be chairs, steps, or staircases. The foot should be flexed so that the legs and toes are straight.
  2. Bend the body forward to the foot. The farther the bend, the deeper the stretch.
  3. Drop the hip of the raised legs instead of lifting it; yoga straps can help this case.
  4. Stay in that position for half a minute and repeat for the other side.
