Possible Side Effects of Shingrix

Shingrix is a vaccine that is considered highly effective and safe in helping your body create a strong defense against shingles. As a result, some temporary side effects may occur after getting the shots. These may affect your ability to do normal daily activities for 2 to 3 days. You should be back to normal after resting for two days after the shot.
A common side effect is a sore arm with mild or moderate pain, and some also experience redness or swelling in the area they got the shot. Other side effects include fatigue, muscle pain, shivering, fever [4], headache, nausea [5] and stomach pain.
Some of these side effects may prevent you from doing regular activities. However, these symptoms tend to go away after 2 to 3 days. Side effects were also more common in younger people.
In some cases, you might react to the first or second-dose shingrix. If you start to experience side effects, your doctor may recommend some pain medicine like acetaminophen or ibuprofen.
Although it is very rare, Guillain-Barre syndrome (GBS) [6], a serious nervous system disorder, has been reported to occur after Shingrix. If you experience any form of side effects after taking the vaccine, you should immediately report them to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) [7].
