Pulmonary Causes
Pain under the shoulder blade may occur due to pulmonary disease. Diseases such as pulmonary monkish or pneumothorax may also be responsible for shoulder blade pain. Studies show that pancoast tumors and lung cancer may also occur due to pain beneath the shoulder blade.
Malignant Causes
Cancerous diseases such as lymphoma, esophageal cancer, liver cancer, lung cancer, or bone cancer may cause pain to spread to the region beneath the shoulder blade.
