Understanding sinus headaches
Sinus headaches occur when there is a pressure and mucus buildup in the sinus cavities and nasal airways. Although it is not common, sinus headaches can occasionally develop without congestion. Along with chronic headaches, those who have sinus problems may also experience sharp pain and discomfort above and below the eyes, in the sinus cavity areas around the noses, and even in the jaw or neck. One of the most uncomfortable signs of sinus infections is frequent headaches.
Sinusitis-related headaches frequently develop as a side effect of various medical disorders such migraines, hypertension, and allergies. Although painkillers and other treatments may usually control the majority of headache types, those caused by sinus infections frequently require treatment of both the underlying ailment and infected sinus cavities in order to be relieved.
