Acupuncture for Acne: Does It Work?

For Acne Rosacea

While most skin disorders that produce redness are heat-related, TCM claims that rosacea is a heart ailment.

The co-founder of Wildling and licensed acupuncturist Gianna de la Torre claims that acupuncture and herbs can help to remove heat from the body as a whole as well as from the face. Several heat-related skin problems, such as yin deficiency, are the result of systemic imbalances. A common side effect of this TCM diagnostic is increased facial heat.

According to a 2018 study, a rosacea patient who received acupuncture treatments for 30 minutes, three times per week, saw a significant reduction in symptoms and reported no return for six months after the therapy. More research is needed to determine if this treatment would be effective for a larger sample size.
