Chickenpox vs. Shingles—What’s the Difference?

Breakthrough chickenpox

This happens when people that have been vaccinated against chickenpox still get the virus. The symptoms are usually less severe than people who have not had a vaccine. These symptoms are:

  • Mild fever or no fever
  • Shorter duration of illness
  • Either no vesicle (blister) or fewer vesicles

The symptoms of chickenpox start to occur 10 to 21 days after coming in contact with the virus. This makes it more difficult to know what is responsible for the condition. Several side effects are seen in pregnant women, they include;

  • Dehydration [6]
  • Bacterial infection of cuts and break in skin injuries
  • Any fetal defect during pregnancy
  • Pneumonia
  • Inflammation or infection of the brain
