What is Folliculitis?

The inflammation or infection of hair follicles is referred to as folliculitis. Staphylococcus aureus [6] germs are most frequently present in these follicles. Anywhere on the skin might develop folliculitis. Folliculitis is frequent on the scalp, which has a large number of hair follicles.

Initially appearing as little, pimple-like bumps, folliculitis spreads and develops into crusty sores. Additional signs could be:

  • blisters that may rupture and drip pus
  • big lump or mass with pus
  • Itching
  • burning pain

Anybody can contract folliculitis. Any of the following situations increases your risk:

  • You suffer from an illness like HIV or chronic leukemia that impairs your immune system.
  • You suffer from dermatitis or acne.
  • you frequently ear tight, constrictive clothing
  • you’ve already had a skin injury
  • Being overweight
