Symptoms of Rosacea

In addition to signs of rosacea, you should also take note of the symptoms.

  • Eye irritation: You might notice your eyes get watery or blood labor, as a sign of eye irritation. This condition can cause redness and swelling of your eyelids. More complications such as cornea damage or vision loss can occur if left untreated.
  • Dry appearance: The center of your face might be tough and appear to be very dry.
  • Burning or stinging: This is a common symptom of rosacea. You might start to experience burning or stinging sensations on your face, and itchiness or a feeling of tightness might also develop.
  • Skin thickening: In some cases of rosacea, your facial skin may enlarge and thicken, resulting in a condition called rhinophyma. [2] This condition occurs on your nose, causing a bulbous appearance.
  • Plaques: These are raised red patches that look like a rash. It might develop without any changes to your surrounding skin.
  • Swelling: Facial swelling (edema) can occur independently or can come with other signs of rosacea.
