Spotting the Signs: 10 Symptoms of Rubella

Swollen Lymph Nodes

The rash that accompanies the Rubella is often confused with other rash-causing viruses and diseases in children. The differentiating factor is that Rubella is usually accompanied by swollen glands. The lump glands or nodes behind the ears get swollen as well as the glands close to the back of the neck around the base of the skull. In Rubell, the glands become tender and sore when swollen. Glands in other parts of the body may also get swollen when the Rubella virus infects the body. However, the glands go back to their normal size and state when the virus leaves the body.

Headache

Headache as a symptom of Rubella is common in older children or teenagers and adults. Like other flu-like symptoms, headaches can be treated using methods that you’ll normally use to treat them when experiencing a common cold or flu. If you have headaches together with a runny nose or fever, you can easily confuse the symptoms with Rubella or a simple cold.
