Common Symptoms of Spinal Stenosis

Sciatica

Sciatica is a type of pain or weakness that happens along the sciatic nerve. It usually affects one leg at a time [6]. In very rare cases, both legs may be affected at the same time. The condition typically results from irritation of the sciatic nerve caused by compression of the nerve roots in the lower back.

The manifestation of this symptom depends on the affected nerve roots. Pain may affect your buttock, thigh, lower back, calf, foot, or whole leg. The condition often results in a feeling of heaviness in one leg. It is not uncommon to experience pins and needles sensation, weakness, tingling, or numbness in the affected areas.
