10 Common Causes of Nausea

Medication

Some medications [1] have side effects that include nausea. The most common drugs that may induce feelings of nausea are: antibiotics, antipsychotics, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, anti-depressants, chemo drugs, and medicines to regulate blood pressure. For example, anti-dopaminergic drugs like nicotine and opioids, which are used to treat mental disorders, may trigger the area postrema [2]. The area postrema is the part of the brain that controls vomiting.

While, Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs have a side-effect of stimulating nuclei in the brain stem, which transmits signals and controls responses to situations of stress. All of which may trigger feelings of nausea.
