10 GERD(Acid Reflux, Heartburn) Treatments

Change Your Sleeping Pattern

You can improve GERD by being more mindful about how you sleep. Sleeping on your stomach is generally frowned upon by many because it can negatively affect certain organs in the body. There are a few sleeping postures thought to help reduce acid reflux incidence in people with GERD. One is that people with GERD sleep on their left side as this can reduce pressure on the stomach and prevent acid reflux.

Harvard Health recommends sleeping on an incline. [9] You should try to sleep in a way that puts your head six to eight inches above your feet. This can be done by using bed risers or supporting your upper body with a foam wedge. Don’t use pillows to create this wedge.
