Why is My Stomach Bloated?

Probably Too Much Air

A few gulps of air in your gut is all that’s needed. It could be via chewing with your mouth open or chewing gum. There are other means through which air enters the stomach. When the air gets to your stomach, the symptoms range from mild to severe. In many cases, there is increased flatulence and belching. In some instances, the person feels pain in their abdomen. Eating foods with high fiber content or cruciferous vegetables (such as broccoli) can lead to bloating. This is due to the trapped air or gases inside the gut. Most cases of bloating caused by trapped air in the stomach usually go away on their own unless caused by some stomach infection. [4]
