6 Treatments and Remedies for Tennis Elbow

Exercise

This is usually done when the inflammation in the tendons has begun to heal. Exercises can help strengthen the muscles and prevent the tennis elbow from recurring. You should wait for the swelling to go down before exercising the injured arm.

There are many types of exercise to help treat tennis elbow. You may want to speak with your physiotherapist first to choose the right ones and ensure you’re doing them correctly. Some of the most common exercises are the wrist extensor flex, wrist turn, towel stretch and fist clench.

The wrist extensor flex [3] can be done by extending the arm straight in front of the body with the palm face-down. Slowly bend the wrist upwards. Gently pull the fingers backward (towards the body) with the other hand. Hold this position for about 30 seconds. Straighten the wrist and repeat twice. You can do up to 3 reps.

It’s good to see a doctor before starting serious exercises to assess the level of injury in your muscles and tendons so you don’t worsen it.
